Ocean, rivers, streams and lakes cover about three fourths of thee the earth’s surface. When one looks at world map he will see water every where, but only about 2.5% of all the water on the earth’s surface is fresh water.
Water can be use for drinking, cooking, farming and manufacturing. It is clear that many things depend on fresh water. There also water found beneath the surface of the earth. In fact, 90%of water that is used by plants, animals and humans. Every living thing needs water. One can live with out food longer than one can live with out water. Nevertheless, all over the water in the world, we have made our water in our oceans, rivers, streams and lakes dirty. In spite of the water is the most valuable resource we have, we are not doing a very good job of keeping it clean and usable. Recently, 50 simple things you can do to save our world; however; 14 billion pounds of garbage and poisonous chemicals are dumped into the oceans every year. The plastic bags, garbage that are dumped in ocean kill at least one million sea creature every year. Like the oceans, our rivers and lakes are used as places to dump both garbage and chemicals.
Even the water that runs below the ground is not safe from pollution. These underground sources of clean water are polluted by chemicals that are dumped on surface of the earth and then seep down in the water beneath the ground.
Some of us are lucky to have most of our lives a place where we can drink and cook with clean water; however; some of us who live with dirty water. We must take care of our water because water is artery of our life.
